Natural Cosmetics : Foot Cream

homemade foot cream with soft healthy foot

My feet are usually dry, keratinous, and even cracked, so I often apply foot cream. As I was reminded that harmful ingredients, including parabens, were inevitably included in commercial cosmetics, I started making cosmetics as well as foot cream at home.

Of course, home-made cosmetics are made by mixing commercially available natural ingredients, and the natural ingredients are not actually natural but chemically processed compounds. However, if you make cosmetics at home, you can choose and control the kind and amount of ingredients, and the process of how to make it, so you can know and trust the products you use.

I would like to share with you my experience of making foot cream through several experiments.

Makgeolli Foot Cream 1

makgeolli foot cream made at home

1.

[Ingredient]

-Oil layer : 20g liquid oil (10 grape seeds, 5 sweet almonds, 5 avocados), 10g cocoa butter, 10g shea butter, 15g beeswax

-Additive : vitamin E 2, glycerin 8, tea tree 10 + lavender 10 EO

[Review]

-> Above was almost the same ingredients and recipe as lip balm. The spreadability is good, but it is too oily, so I think applying on the skin is not pleasant.

2.

[Ingredient]

-Aqueous layer : 10g of makgeolli extract, 2g of aloe vera gel

-Oil layer : cocoa butter 2g, jojoba oil 1g, sweet almond oil 1g, grape seed oil 2g, avocado oil 1g, olive oil wax 5g

-Additive : hyaluronic acid 1g, vitamin E 0.3g, lavender 3 drops, tea tree 3 drops

[Review]

-> It feels good after application as it is not sticky and not too oily.

The spreadability is not good (it is too sticky and does not spread well. There are lumps of makgeolli lees).

Oil and emulsified wax are not mixed well, so the oil is separated. It seems to have less moisturizing effect after application.

[Alternatives]

-> Use cheongju(clear liquor on top of makgeolli) instead of makgeolli.

Make a sufficient amount of ingredients. Heat up enough. Use a blender to mix.

-> The next recipe would be,

Cheongju 20, Aloe Vera Gel 5 ; Cocoa Butter 5, Jojoba Oil 4, Peppermint Infused Olive Oil 4, Grape Seed 2, Olive Oil Wax 10, Olly Wax LC2 ; Hyaluronic Acid 2, Vitamin E1, Bergamot Eucalyptus 5 drops each.

-> Raise the temperature of both the aqueous phase and the oil phase, pour water into the oil and continue stirring with a hand blender. When the temperature drops a lot, add the additives and keep stirring by hand.

Cheongju Peppermint Foot Cream

procedure of making foot cream at home

[Ingredient]

-Aqueous layer : cheongju 15, purified water 5, aloe vera gel 5

-Oil layer : coconut oil 5, rape oil 4, sweet almond oil 2, peppermint infused olive oil 4, cocoa butter 5, olive oil wax 4, oliwax 2, beeswax 4

-Additives : glycerin 2, vitamin E1, EO (Bergamot 7D + Eucalyptus 16D)

[Review]

-> I reduced emulsifier and added more beeswax. The key was to include oil infused with clear cheongju and peppermint on top of the ingredients.

-> For experimental purposes, the amount of the additive was too small, so the amount of the additive was not well controlled and the oil component was not mixed well.

-> When the cream is applied, it has a mild and slightly warm feeling. I get a little heat in my feet. It felt like drinking alcohol on my feet!

Makgeolli Foot Cream 2

[Ingredient]

-Aqueous layer : makgeolli, purified water, aloe vera gel

-Oil layer: coconut oil, rapeseed oil, sweet almond oil, peppermint infused olive oil, cocoa butter, olive oil wax, olly wax, beeswax

-Additives: glycerin, vitamin E, EO (bergamot + eucalyptus)

[Review]

-> Makgeolli was added to the original recipe instead of cheongju, and coconut oil was added.

-> What appears to be dark spots on the cream is peppermint powder that remains in the oil after sieving peppermint-extracted olive oil.

-> For as a hand cream, it is a bit oily to use.

After exfoliating, apply it to the soles of the feet and toes for a good moisturizing and soothing effect.

Makgeolli Foot Cream 3

[Ingredient]

-Aqueous layer : makgeolli 15, Aloe Vera Gel 5

-Oil layer : cocoa butter 7, coconut oil 10, canola oil 4, peppermint olive 4, olivem 1000 (olive emulsified wax) 4, oliwax LC2, beeswax 4

-Additives : glycerin 3, vitamin E1, euronapri 1, EO (eucalyptus 14 + tea tree 6)

[Review]

-> Compared to Cheongju Peppermint Foot Cream, the content of coconut oil and cocoa butter has been increased.

Makgeolli undiluted (alcohol content of about 14) mixed with lees was added to cheongju.

-> Natural extract powder may be seen in the product, but it is not an impurity, so you can use it with confidence.
